IDF Commander of the 210th Division, Brigadier General Yair Peli tours deployments in southern Syria, June 29, 2025

Israeli fighters deployed to the summit of Mount Hermon – on the Syrian side of the mountain – completed multiple raids this past week against enemy positions.

The raids by the Alexandroni Brigade included destruction of weapons storage facilities and the arrest of multiple terrorists, who were transferred to security personnel in Israeli territory for further questioning.

The troops of the 210th Division, including the 3rd Brigade, are currently deployed in southern Syria to maintain deterrence while removing current threats to Israelis living in the Golan Heights.

The forces are present in areas from the summit of Mount Hermon all the way to the border triangle between Syria, Jordan and Israel, the IDF confirmed.

Ongoing raids are being carried out to capture weapons that could pose a threat to Israel if they all into the hands of “hostile forces,” the IDF noted.

The IDF has maintained a presence at nine separate positions inside southern Syria since the overthrow of then-President Bashar al-Assad by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Islamist terror organization led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani.

The rebel commander has since become Syria’s president and now uses his birth name, Ahmed al-Shara’a.
