Flag Dance

Join JewishPress.com as we participate (virtually) in Israel’s 58th annual Jerusalem Day Flag Dance celebrations! Watch now:

Tens of thousands of people packed the streets of the Israeli capital to mark the 58th anniversary of the reunification of the holy city of Jerusalem. Dancers and their flags wound their way through the Old City to the Western Wall, starting at 6 pm, for a special ceremony set to begin at 7:30 pm in the presence of rabbis, government ministers, Knesset members and other public figures.

And for those wondering about the official government celebration, the National Assembly commemorated the 58th anniversary of the liberation and unification of Jerusalem in a live broadcast Monday night from Ammunition Hill. You can watch that right here:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog were among those who spoke at the ceremony, which included vocalists as well as historical video clips and various other speakers.

In the afternoon, girls and their families gathered on Bezalel Street and boys and their families on King George Street, with the dancing continuing with live music before the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem until 7:30 pm.

The celebrations are continuing into the late-night hours.
